Over the last 15 years, the number of piglets born alive has increased significantly in the intensive production systems. This has resulted in an increased heterogeneity of birth weights which is expanded at weaning helped by the failure of the sows’ milk to fully cover the energy needs of the whole litter.
It has been shown that the weaning weight of the piglet will have a major effect on its productive life. Animals able to gain a greater live weight by the end of transition will need less days in fattening stage to reach the slaughter weight. Encouraging the use of a milk replacer (creep feed) during lactation will help to maximise the growth of the piglets at this stage and, therefore, reduces the average time taken to consume feed after weaning.
To enhance feed intake in piglets, Quimidroga proposes to incorporate Weanex ® to the milk replacer during lactation stage.
Weanex ® is the unique formula based on the aromatic components present in the sow’s colostrum and milk that once added to the milk replacer and the prestarter make them more palatable and attractive for piglets as they recognise their aroma.
Its incorporation increases the feed intake and improves significantly the weaning weight of the piglets. At the same time, Weanex reduces behaviors of feed refusal that occur at a post-weaning stage, thus enhancing the intake in that critical moment for the further growth of the piglet.
The effectiveness of Weanex ® has been thoroughly tested. You can contact us to consult the results and conclusions of your studies.
