So far, there were different criteria to designate a cosmetic as natural, leading to some confusion between concepts such as bio, organic or sustainable. To standardize definitions and criteria in natural cosmetics, the ISO 16.128 Norm, “Guidelines on technical definitions for natural and organic cosmetic ingredients and products” offers technical definitions on natural and organic products and ingredients, and describes the way of calculating the indexes of natural origin for each category.
