In detergents, thickeners are used to facilitate the dosing of the products or to achieve superior adhesion to the surfaces, and thus increase the contact time of the preparations on the surfaces.
Many thickeners of an anionic nature are highly performant as modifiers of viscosity, flow type or suspension capacity, but are incompatible with cationic systems. In addition, their synthetic origin limits the use in products with ecological certifications.
The Novethix™ HC-220 range of polymers from Lubrizol ™ consists of thickeners of a non-ionic nature and derived from natural origin, and are designed for use in cleaning products. It has broad compatibility with surfactant systems (anionic, non-ionic, cationic and amphoteric) and excellent transparency in most formulations, including cationic ones.
The Novethix™ HC-220 polymers range is suitable for thickening cleaning products such as:
- Laundry detergents
- Manual dishwashers
- Surface cleaners
- Disinfectant cleaners containing cationic biocides
The good compatibility with cationic ingredients opens the possibility of formulating gel surface disinfectants, biocidal laundry detergents or sanitizing additives for laundry washing. Due to the high thixotropy of Novethix™ HC-220, even spray cleaners can be formulated that remain on the surfaces for longer than those without thickeners.
