Emulsifiers for Cosmetics 

Emulsifiers are fundamental compounds in the creation of emulsions. Emulsions are stable mixtures of substances that would not normally mix, such as water and oil. Emulsifiers allow these ingredients to come together in a cohesive and uniform formula.

The appropriate emulsifier in the formula is linked to the type of emulsion desired. Emulsions can be water external phase (O/W or oil in water) or oil external phase (W/O or water in oil). O/W cosmetics are lighter and easier to absorb, they are the most common type of emulsion found in skincare creams. On the other hand, W/O emulsions are creamier, suitable for some more specific applications.
