Tanning
Tanning is an industrial sector with a long tradition of craftsmanship that has progressively evolved to reach, at present, a high degree of technification. In this sense, the chemical industry and Quimidroga, as a supplier of the raw materials needed to formulate products in the auxiliary tanning industry, play a fundamental role. Likewise, our capacity to have a wide range of stocks and a logistic service of distribution and transport focused on the needs of our clients are an important added value.
Raw materials for tanning
In our portfolio, we have all kinds of raw materials and chemicals for the preparation of hides in their tanning process for the stages of pre-tanning, tanning, retanning and finishing.
Regarding the pre-tanning phase, our reducing additives allow the removal of impurities to prepare the hides for tanning. During the tanning process, the decomposition of the hide is stopped. The animal skin acquires strength, elasticity and softness, all characteristics that facilitate further processing. A number of raw materials and additives are required for this process and the wet-end process such as co-formulants, preservatives, acids and pH regulators, as well as degreasers, pigments and lubricating oils capable of fluffing and inflating the material to give it the texture and malleability required for the final product.
Applications of raw materials for tanning
The hides that we obtain once the animal’s skin is tanned, and where our raw materials have been necessary for their treatment, are required for the manufacture of fashion and home accessories, furniture, automotive sector and all kinds of leather products. Thus, in the last finishing process, the leather is ready to be processed and converted into wallets, belts, shoes and many other objects.
